That Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon (Mead Mishaps Book 1)
Rating: 4 out of 5
"Who needs him? Or any man! Love was for people with not enough wine in their hands!"
"Every scratch", he whispered, his tone gentle and comforting. "Every bruise, I will pay back in fire and blood."
All Cinnamon wanted was to live her life in peace. Maybe get a cat, expand her spice farm. Really anything that doesn't involve her going on a quest where an orc might rip her face off. But they say the Goddess has favorites. If so, Cinnamon clearly isn't one of them. After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all he wanted to do was kill an evil witch enslaving his people. Which Cinnamon totally gets... but he's dragging her along for the ride, and that part has her peeved. On the bright side, he keeps burning off his shirt.
I am absolutely in love with this book it was hilarious pretty much from the moment it started. I mean anytime a book opens with, "I had only two things on my mind; cheese and how to get home," you just know it is going to be a wild ride. I instantly fell in love with Cinnamon she was snarky and fun and incredibly likable. We get a lot of world building early on but it's presented through Cinnamon's snark so I enjoyed it. The author had a lot of fun with this and it showed even in the fact that Cinnamon and her brothers were spice farmers and named after spices and her best friend was a cheese vendor and was named Brie.
Cinnamon drunkenly saves a demon and then after a hilariously awkward encounter gets roped into helping him to destroy the Goddess who he claims is actually just an evil witch who has been tormenting demons for years. Their quest was full of funny moments, with Fallon attempting to scare her into sleeping next to him a number of times. As you can imagine the tension between these two was amazing. The banter was perfection. And Fallon was just adorable and protective all at the same time. I cannot tell you the number of times I laughed out loud while reading this one. It was a super quick read and I honestly was kind of sad when it was over. If you want a cute, cozy and fun read.. this is it.
