Spidersight

Rating: 4 out of 5

Have you met Fred? He's the imaginary friend of five year old Missy. Missy insists that Fred is real. No one believes her until Fred starts doing horrible things. Missy seems like any other five year old except that she believes she sees spiders nobody else can. Her parents are only mostly worried, because every five year old has a big imagination. But bad things start happening wherever Missy goes and people keep dying...

I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea to read a book that is literally about creepy spiders that kill people. It was a terrible decision on my part! That being said, this book was great. Everything is from the point of view of five year old Missy and occasionally from Fred. Despite my fear of spiders and the whole nobody can see them but her, which just gave me the creeps, I could not put this book down. And trust me... the spider stuff made me want to haha.

The book is well written, engaging and creepy all at the same time. I mean I was concerned at first because it was a child's point of view, but it was actually incredible to see the topics through the lens of a child. The way her little brain rationalized everything was intriguing. My only issue with this book was the girls parents, the mom was super quick to blame the daughter for everything, simply because she had an interest in spiders. The dad was rather quick to encourage her to use the spiders to kill people. But this book honestly felt like a Stephen King movie at times. It was creepy and I wish I had read it during spooky season, but also now my fear of spiders is worse than before. Get your copy today. You won't be able to stop yourself until you finish it.
