Sidetracked (Mindf*ck Series, 2)

Rating: 4 Stars

"There's a certain high you get from fooling the world into thinking you're the lamb instead of the rabid wolf."

They always want to break me, but I'm too strong now. Untouchable. Or at least I was... until her. Logan: I've had tunnel vision for one main goal for so long, that I forgot there was a whole other world just outside. Until Lana. She's everything I never expected, and I love the fact I can never guess her every move or reaction. It's part of the reason I keep falling. But I also know she shuts me out, hides things from me she feels she can't share. One day, I hope she trusts me enough to share. It isn't until my job puts her at risk that I realize just how fierce she is, but it doesn't stop me from doing all I can to protect her. I should walk away to protect her better, but I can't. Instead, I'm forced to find other ways to keep her safe. I just hope it's enough. Though she is fierce, she's still fragile... Right?

Book 2 picked up right where 1 left off and I have to say even though it was shorter it was somehow even better. It built up so much tension and gave us a little more background. We keep seeing the beautiful romance between Lana and Logan. I mean it is one that is so cute it hurts almost. They are encountering some obstacles because his job now has her life at risk... and sharing a bed with an FBI agent was dangerous enough... A whole police presence really limits what one can do in the murder department. The book detours a little from her planned revenge to a different crime, which showcases a very human side of Lana. She is still able to care and be compassionate. The only problem... her actions keep causing the FBI to adapt their profile on her murders.. and they are starting to realize something happened in the town almost 10 years ago. Will they uncover the truth before she has achieved her goal? Who freaking knows... because again... We got more tension... More anxiety... More nerves... and A CLIFFHANGER!!!
